Curriculum 2013/2014
Term 0 - Introduction Modules (optional)
Since not all degree candidates have the same academic and professional backgrounds, ISCTE Business School offers a preliminary term (Term 0) consisting of Introduction to Data Analysis and Research, and Introduction to Financial Reporting. Although the admissions committee recommends that all students attend this short programme, they may deem it compulsory for certain students after appraising their CVs. This special preparatory programme will enable students to adapt more easily to the issues discussed in the required courses.

Faculty
ISCTE Business School faculty members are well-known, active contributors to management education who have published widely in a host of well-known international journals. IBS has to its credit:
- A full-time faculty with PhDs from well known universities from the USA and Europe with such diversity confering on the programme an international outlook and state-of-the-art instruction in management.
- A part-time faculty with instructors who are prominent in the business world and whose experience can better help to connect students to the real business environment through the classes, workshops and seminars they give;

List of Faculty *
Alexandra LOPES
Alexandra Lopes is an assistant professor of Economics at IBS, has a PhD in Economics from ISEG (Portugal). Her research interests lie mainly in Open Macroeconomics, Economic Growth and Portuguese and International Economy. She is Coordinator of the Research Group in Economics within BRU-IUL. She has several articles published in different international journals.
Ana Lúcia MARTINS
Ana Lúcia Martins is an assistant professor at IBS. She holds a PhD in Management, specialized in Technology, Production and Operations from IUL (Lisbon). She is currently the head of the Undergraduate degree in Industrial Management and Engineering. Her research interests lie on service operations management and logistic and supply chain management. She has published several articles and books in logistics and operations management.
António BARBOSA
Dr. Barbosa has a PhD in Industrial Administration (Finance) from the Carnegie Mellon University and currently holds the title of assistant professor of Finance at IBS. His research interests include information economics, asset pricing and market microstructure and he enjoys the theoretical side of finance. 'Seeking inspiration' is often used by Dr. Barbosa as an excuse for mountain biking.
Eduardo Baptista CORREIA
Eduardo Baptista Correia holds a PhD in Finance from Strathclyde Business School (UK) and a Masters in Strategy and Marketing from Glasgow University (UK). After being in the Finance area at IBS, he moved to Marketing in 2001, where he taught and published widely on the field of applying new technologies to marketing. He combines academic life with consulting. He is the non-executive president of WM - New Marketing Concepts.
Gavin ECCLES
Gavin Eccles holds a master's degree in Management from the University of Surrey (UK). He is a senior business consultant in the fields of international marketing and business planning strategies and has provided expertise to such leading international companies as British Airways, Marks & Spencer and Marriott Hotels.
Helena ISIDRO
Helena Isidro has a PhD in Accounting from the University of Lancaster (UK). She is an assistant professor at IBS and a visiting professor at Cass Business School, City University (UK).She is currently involved in the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group, on a panel of experts analyzing the evolution and business impact of international accounting standards. Her research has been published in such journals as Accounting and Business Research.
Jorge LENGLER
Jorge Bertinetti Lengler is an assistant professor of Strategy at ISCTE Business School. He holds a PhD in Competitive Strategy and Marketing (Federal University, Brazil/University of Oregon, USA) and a Post-Doctorate in International Marketing from the University College Dublin, Ireland. Dr. Lengler has taught International Strategy and Strategic Management courses on several MBA programs in South America, Europe and Asia.
Jorge Agarez MEDEIROS
Jorge Agarez Medeiros is a professor at IBS. He has an MBA in International Management (Thunderbird School of Global Management), where he was a Teaching Assistant in Finance. He is taking a Masters in Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. He was previously the Executive Director of the MSc.BA. He has worked in several multinational companies in the commercial and marketing areas.
José Dias CURTO
José Dias Curto holds a PhD in Management at ISCTE Business School. He is a professor at IBS. He has published several articles and books in quantitative methods applied to management. He worked in banking and in the commercial areas. He has led consulting projects, namely for the Portuguese stock exchange.
José Carlos DIAS
José Carlos Dias holds a PhD in Finance from ISCTE Business School. He is an Assistant Professor of Finance at IBS. His main interests are Option Pricing;Real Options;Computational Finance;Credit Risk and Corporate Finance. He is author of several research papers.
Leandro PEREIRA
Leandro Pereira holds a PhD in Management Sciences from University Pontificia Salamanca (Spain). He is currently Assistant Professor in ISCTE and CEO of Winning Management Consulting. He has more than 10 years of experience in fields of Strategic Management, ROI Analysis and Project Management & Finance.
Manuel Lopes da COSTA
Manuel Lopes da Costa is CEO of PwC and part-time professor at IBS. He has an extensive consulting experience. He was partner at Deloitte Portugal, and managing partner in financial services at Accenture, where he was in charge of all the company's offices in Africa and the IGEM region (Italy, Greece, Russia and the Eastern European countries). He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from IST, the Technical University of Lisbon.
Paulo RITA
Paulo Rita is a Full Professor of Marketing at ISCTE Business School (IBS), Lisbon. Previously, he was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas (USA), where he did post-doctoral research on E-Marketing. Prof. Rita received his Doctorate (PhD) in Marketing from Cardiff Business School at the University of Wales (UK). He is an Executive Committee Member of EDAMBA (European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration), and is Programmes Director at IBS. His publications and current research interests focus on Electronic Commerce, Consumer Behavior and Tourism Marketing.
Pedro Fontes FALCÃO
Pedro Fontes Falcão is co-director of the MSc. BA. He holds a PhD degree in Management from IBS and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is a guest assistant professor at IBS and the IBS's executive MBA director. He has held management positions in large Portuguese and multinational companies. His teaching and consulting interests are in negotiation, and strategy, mergers and acquisitions.
Rui Pedro BATISTA
Rui Pedro Batista has an MBA and he is a PhD student at ISCTE. He is Deputy Editor in Chief at Económico TV. He has extensive experience in the creation and restructuring of companies, and has worked in large and mid-sized companies. He has been a university professor for more than 20 years in Strategy, Internationalization and Entrepreneurship.
Sofia SANTOS
Sofia Santos has a master’s degree in Economics (University of London) and is a PhD Candidate at Middlesex University in London. She is Co-founder of Sustentare, a consulting firm specialized in sustainable management and Corporate Social Responsibility. In Portugal, she has also performed the functions in NGO’s, news agencies and at the Portuguese National Statistics Office. Sofia is the author of several publications.
Szabolcs SEBESTYÉN
Dr. Sebestyén holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Alicante (Spain). He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance of ISCTE-IUL Business School. His research interests include financial econometrics, empirical asset pricing, term structure modeling, credit markets and monetary policy.
Rodolfo RIVAS
Rodolfo Rivas is a professor of Management at Florida Atlantic University and holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut (USA). He has more than 20 years of experience as a senior manager with several large multinational companies and an impressive background in executive education. His teaching and consulting interests are focused on multinational cultural management and human resources management.
Rui VINHAS DA SILVA
Rui Vinhas da Silva has degrees in Business Management and Economics from York University in Toronto, Canada, an MBA from Aston Business School and a PhD and Post-Doctorate from Manchester Business School. Before joining ISCTE as an Associate Professor in April 2010, he was an Associate Professor at Manchester Business School and a member of faculty since 1998. Over the years he was heavily involved in MBA teaching and PhD supervision at MBS for 12 years. Throughout this period he was very actively involved in Senior Executive training programmes and consultancy through Manchester Business School. These included regular appointments in bluechip programmes, notably with PWC in Baskin Ridge, New Jersey, AMAC (Senior British military officers), TACIS (Senior executives from the former Soviet Union), or government officials in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Vinhas da Silva has research interests in the areas of national competitiveness, country branding, corporate reputation and country of origin effects having published books and numerous journal articles in both streams.
* Some adjustments to the faculty line-up may occur as a result of events beyond IBS's control. Additionally, every year IBS invites international visiting faculty to lecture at the school. Prospective visiting lecturers are not included in this list.

This tuition includes:
