Personal Development Programme (PdP)
The PdP is one of the cornerstones of the international Master Programmes at ISCTE
Business School. In today’s challenging business world, the interpersonal skill-set is
one of the keys to success. The PdP is designed to catalyze the process of building the skills and the behavior of future business leaders.
The PdP programme addresses two key areas - developing your personality (DyP)
and catalyzing your career (CyC). The DyP approach develops students ability to
lead people, produce innovation and embrace change. All workshops focus on the
development of communication, teamwork and efficiency skills. The CyC approach
helps students to improve the management of their careers, prepare themselves for
the recruiting process, and fast forward their networks.
The Personal Development Programme builds on different phases for personal growth:
Creating visions
During the first weekend of the Masters programme, every student develops a
personal vision for the coming year at ISCTE Business School .
Plan of Excellence
With the help of a personal coach, students create a “Plan of Excellence”;
a step-by-step plan based on their vision and on a status-quo check of
their current strengths and challenges.
Striving for Excellence
Throughout the year, the process of striving for excellence will be catalyzed through a
combination of workshops, tutorials and simulations.
The PdP will challenge and motivate each and every student to develop their personal potential and to be better prepared to lead people, handle pressure and deliver results.
By means of a continuous and individualized process, lasting throughout their time
at ISCTE Business School, students grow in a sustainable way to become leaders in
different organizations.
Career Management Action Plan (CMAP)
CMAP is a complementary component of the PdP and is designed to develop students’ ability to identify and achieve their career goals. In a competitive job market, it is important to communicate a clear and precise message that gets the attention of prospective employers.
The Career Management Action Plan is divided into four key themes: 1) professional branding, 2) job market research, 3) enterprise skills development, and 4) job search/creation strategy. Each theme builds on the prior one allowing students to further refine (and redefine) their career goals.
Professional Branding
Knowledge of self is extremely important in order to determine how students’ specific skills, interests, and values align with their career goals. Understanding what professional value they offer will give them the confidence needed to convince employers to hire them – or start their own venture.
Job Market Research
Through individual research using the career resources available at ISCTE Business School, students determine what qualifications recruiters and hiring managers are seeking across specific geographic locations, industries, job functions, and companies.
Enterprise Skills Development
Commercial awareness, creativity, and communications skills are the keys to obtaining a job offer. Students will take what they learn from the classroom and determine how it can best be applied to current and future business challenges.
Job Search/Creation Strategy
There are posted jobs, hidden jobs, and created jobs. Having a comprehensive career strategy ensures that purposeful action will be taken, activities will be organized, and time will be effectively utilized in the pursuit of students’ career goals.

At the same time, students from our partner universities spend their residential week in Lisbon and have the chance to meet our Masters students, strengthening the academic and professional networks for both.

Exchange programmes allow students to spend some time studying outside ISCTE Business School, offering the opportunity to get to know a new university, meet new people and become immersed in a new culture.
