Accreditation and Recognition of ISCTE Business School
ISCTE Business School has been recognized by a host of prestigious international agencies and associations as Portugal’s best business school when it comes to the international focus provided by several of its programmes. The following list will give you an idea of the internationally-recognized organizations ISCTE Business School belongs to and the international accreditation and recognition it has received:

Our Executive MBA has received accreditation from AMBA, the Association of MBAs. The Executive MBA of ISCTE Business School is the only EMBA in Portugal that has been granted the prestigious MBA accreditation from AMBA - Association of MBAs.
The Executive MBA (EMBA) programme of ISCTE Business School achieved this international accreditation in its fourth year. This accreditation is ample proof of the quality and unique nature of the programme in Portugal.
The ISCTE Business School EMBA is designed for Portuguese executives with 6 or more years of professional experience after graduation. The average age of our students is 36. The maturity and experience of our programme participants makes for a student body with a vast pool of experiences and allows them to form a wide-reaching executive network of mature professionals.
The innovative structure of the programme includes workshops led by top managers, national and international residential stays and a leadership course at the Navy School, which is unique in Portugal. Together with its prestigious faculty, the programme has had a huge impact on the careers of aspiring top executives. A number of our alumni can boast of seeing great strides in their careers just one or two years after completing the programme. Some have been promoted to general managership positions of medium-sized and large companies, while others have embarked on important international careers and entrepreneurship ventures with projects in Portugal and abroad.
ISCTE Business School is the only Portuguese business school accepted at The European Academy of Business in Society (EABIS), which is a unique alliance of top international business schools, academic institutions and companies.
EABIS members include leading business schools across Europe, South Africa and New Zealand and international companies and organisations that are, with the support of the European Commission, committed to integrating business in society issues into the heart of business theory and practice in Europe.
EABIS' activities are based on three pillars:
- Research and Knowledge Development: EABIS is the European reference network for interdisciplinary research on corporate responsibility, based on a unique partnership model to create a sound, accessible and business-relevant body of knowledge.
- Education and Learning: EABIS works collaboratively with companies and academic institutions to inform and reshape education programmes, placing corporate responsibility at the core of business education.
- Training and Leadership: EABIS supports a multi-stakeholder learning network to identify and deliver programmes designed to enhance the competencies required by mainstream professionals in the area of corporate responsibility.
IBS's doctoral programmes are recognised as being among the best in Europe. ISCTE Business School is the only Portuguese business school accepted by the European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration (EDAMBA), which has also recognized such prestigious institutions as ESADE, HEC, INSEAD and London Business School.
The academic excellence and scientific quality of IBS's programmes was one of the key elements in its having been accepted as an EDAMBA member.
This network of the top doctoral programmes in Europe has three main aims:
- To promote and facilitate cooperation within the European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration by providing and managing a network to exchange information;
- To exchange PhD candidates;
- To promote research cooperation.
In many ways, EDAMBA helps participating schools enhance the quality of their PhD programmes, while pursuing diversity and creating an environment of excellence with a European perspective.
